Just two days after Valentine’s Day, the guests at the South Florida Chapter’s
blinc Love Affair were still in the mood for love—love of a good cause. On February 16th at the Polo Club in Boca Raton, more than 250 guests spent an athletic day playing tennis and a romantic evening wining and dining, and raised more than $200,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The day began with two round robins in which tennis pros teamed up with guests to play several sets and onlookers cheered their favorite players. Afterwards, guests changed from tennis whites to black tie to enjoy a fabulous evening of fine food and top entertainment.

The night’s theme, “Love Around the World,” gave guests the opportunity to pose for a comic caricature in “Paris,” a romantic photo in a gondola in “Venice,” and a take a lie detector test in Sherlock Holmes’s mysterious “London.” Continuing the international theme, Spanish guitarists strummed a number of melodies, elegant tango dancers took to the dance floor, and local entertainers performed the famous courtyard scene from Romeo and Juliet. The evening also included a live auction of a football helmet autographed by 40 years of Superbowl MVPs and a raffle of a gleaming white, $50,000 Mercedes CLK 350.

“We are absolutely delighted at the success of this event,” said event co-chair Peter Hodge. “The support of the over 250 guests who attended clearly demonstrated a sense of community and generosity that was overwhelming."

Many thanks go to the title corporate sponsor, cosmetics company blinc inc.; as well as to Eric and Debby Rand, Rob and Kyle Finizio, Money Centers of America, Garage Tek, and Excell Auto. In addition, applause is due to dedicated committee members Lewis Farsedakis, Eric Rand, and Patrick Sheahan.
