For two glorious days in August, at the Texas Gulf Coast Chapter’s Copano Energy Cast for the Cure Fishing Tournament, 90 anglers and 45 guides competed for both trophies and bragging rights, and reeled in $160,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Details That Made a Difference

Copano Energy didn’t just sponsor the event, company employees pitched in with extra gusto on the event committee, chaired by Senior Director of Business Development Darin Aucoin. The hardworking committee deftly pursued high-level sponsorships among industry contacts and kept spirits high and overhead to a minimum.

There was never a dull moment—spirited fishing by day and great food, cocktails and silent and live auctions at night rounded out the event. A painting by Dylan Bass, who has CF, and his twin brother Ethan, ignited an enthusiastic bidding war. The high bidders were longtime CF Foundation supporters and accomplished anglers Janice and Paul Therrien.

“It was a privilege to see so many people join forces for a great cause,” said Aucoin. “I truly believe conquering this disease is well within our reach.”
