This year’s 27th Annual Par Wars Golf Classic was an especially poignant event. After a courageous 16-year battle with cystic fibrosis, Jessica Strisower, the event’s ambassador since she was 2 years old, passed away in March. In honor of this beloved teenager, more than 300 guests attended the Southern California Chapter’s golf tournament, making it the most successful Par Wars to date and raising nearly $300,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Details That Made a Difference
Following a day of playing 18 world-class holes along the sprawling 261-acre Trump National Golf Club, in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., guests retreated to the Clubhouse for dinner and live music, casino-style gaming and an exciting silent and live auction.
Photos of Jessica’s smiling face greeted guests upon entering the reception, and the event’s Commemorative Journal included special messages dedicated to the young “spitfire,” who was known for her high energy and sense of humor. Jessica’s uncle and Event Co-chair Chuck Bennett brought the evening to an emotional close with a deeply moving Bid for A Cure.
“The entire day was a perfect balance,” said Co-chair and longtime Strisower family friend Jennifer Krikorian Alvarez. “It provided a wonderful tribute to Jessica’s life, while at the same time conveying the need for us to continue our fight for a cure for CF.”
