Marathon Golf Challenge Raises Support for CF

Two dozen volunteers golfed to raise money for CF at the 13th annual Nell’s Golf Challenge, hosted by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation -- Connecticut Chapter in August.

Golfers enjoyed the rare opportunity to play up to 100 holes on the exclusive TPC River Highlands golf course. The all-day event raised a total of $120,000 to support the search for a cure.

Longtime CF Foundation friends Tim Linehan and Scott Johnson, who have been participating in the event for 12 years and served as co-chairs for the last six, returned as co-chairs once again.

“At Nell’s Challenge, we limit the number of golfers on the course to speed up play,” said Linehan, “but there is nothing small about the support each volunteer gives to CF and the search for a cure.”

TPC is an award-winning championship golf course, which also hosts the PGA TOUR’s Traveler’s Championship each year. In exchange for raising pledges of $500 or more, golfers had their run of the private course for 100 holes.

The Connecticut Chapter is grateful for the extraordinary dedication of its volunteers and also thanks its generous corporate sponsors, BJ’s Wholesale, Gillette and Prospect Mortgage.
