When it comes to food, Cincinnati is best known for its chili. This September, the Greater Cincinnati Chapter highlighted the tri-state area’s equally-as-notable philanthropic spirit by honoring 20 young professionals who are committed to using their talent, compassion and leadership qualities to further the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
CF Families Inspire Honorees
All 20 of the Finest honorees were first-time fundraisers for the CF cause, and eight had a direct connection with the disease. To help those unfamiliar with cystic fibrosis to better understand the disease, event director Annemarie Barnett paired them with families affected by CF.
“The amount of time and effort each honoree put into getting to know their CF families was amazing,” Barnett says. “They were invited to events, went to the zoo, met for ice cream and more. It truly helped them to have a family whose story they could share with others — it made all the difference.”

Honorees and committee members kicked off a 12-week fundraising blitz that culminated in the Finale celebration this September and a total of $64,000 raised for vital CF Foundation programs. |
The Grand FinaleAfter a 12-week fundraising blitz, the honorees — who each raised at least $2,500 — and about 100 guests gathered at the Cincinnati’s Finest Finale party at The Redmoor in Mt. Lookout to celebrate raising a total of $64,000 for the CF Foundation.
Lindsay Wiseman of Cox Ohio Media took home the top Finest award. By attracting the support of local Taco Bell locations, selling advertisements, securing matches to donations and organizing a “restaurant crawl,” Lindsay raised more than $12,000 on behalf of her best friend’s 2-year-old daughter, who has CF.
The event included a VIP honoree reception, live music by Stays in Vegas, a silent auction, and great food and drinks.
“Because of this positive experience, the night’s honorees are ready to launch the second annual Finest campaign,” Barnett says. “They are the future CF Foundation leaders.”

Six of the night’s honorees raised more than $5,000 each and will be featured on a billboard campaign in the Cincinnati area: Chris Prosser, Lindsay Wiseman, Jamie Boyle, Adhrucia Apana, Sonya Jindal and Valerie Abati (not pictured). |
The Bid for a Cure
Even with all the star power in the room, the littlest guest shone the brightest: 10-year-old Kylie Meyer, who has CF, gave the night’s Bid for a Cure speech.
“I hope the doctors can find a cure for CF soon because I have dreams of becoming a veterinarian someday,” Kylie said. “My mom pinky-promised me that when I am cured from CF, she will buy me a horse. I want that to happen so badly — I love horses.
“I ask that you continue to help us so we can find a cure and give those living with CF better tomorrows. Wouldn’t you want to be a part of helping to find the cure?”
