North Texas Volunteers Dine, Sip and Tango to Raise More Than $225,000 at “Viva Argentina!” Wine Opener Event
This April, more than 325 new and longtime supporters of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Northeast Texas Chapter took a fanciful trip to an Argentinean estancia at the seventh annual North Texas Wine Opener. The Royal Affairs Ballroom in Lewisville, Texas, set the stage for a festive, fun-filled night of fundraising — and dancing the tango — with a vibrant “Viva Argentina!” theme.

Chairs of the North Texas Wine Opener helped raise more than $225,000 in support of the CF Foundation’s mission.
After guests enjoyed traditional asada barbecue provided by Morris Salerno's The Grotto steakhouse and complementary Argentinean wine, the spectacular live
auction engaged the entire crowd. Bidders competed for sommelier dinners, trips to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Argentina and experiences including a gourmet pizza party for 10, which sold for more than $6,000 — twice!
Volunteers Todd Vowels, Honorary Chair Pete Delkus and Kary Barton enjoyed an evening of traditional Argentinean flavors, festivities and dancing.
With this year’s event raising more than $225,000, the Wine Opener has raised over $1 million to date.
Volunteer Todd Vowels, who has lived with CF for more than 40 years and was featured in a video shown at the event, was overwhelmed by the generosity of the crowd. Looking around the packed ballroom, he said: “I'm amazed at this fabulous event. This is our hope.”
