Oregon Firefighters to Climb for a Cure
This September, firefighters from across the country will race to the top of Oregon’s second tallest building at the Oregon Chapter's 3rd Annual Portland Firefighter Stair Climb
Challenge: Climb for the Cure to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
August 30, 2011
Dressed in full fire combat gear, climbers will scale 40 floors — more than 800 steps — of the U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland, Ore. The competitors will be greeted at the finish line by hundreds of volunteers and guests for a well-deserved “Survivor Party,” complete with refreshing food and beverages, entertainment and muscle-soothing chair massages.
“The cystic fibrosis community is like a family, much like the fire service,” says Wes Loucks, event chair and grandfather of two young boys with CF. “The Portland Firefighter Stair Climb is a fun way to unite the community to help fund research that is needed to defeat this terrible disease.”
The event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 25. Learn more and register for this unique stair climb challenge.
