65 Roses Gala Wows Guests With Willy Wonka Theme

October 15, 2012

This September, more than 270 guests gathered at the Troy Hilton Garden Inn for the Northeastern New York Chapter’s 65 Roses Gala: Pure Imagination. The Willy Wonka-themed event was a success, raising more than $165,000 to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Willy Wonka Golden Tickets

The event’s themed décor — including edible, sugar-filled centerpieces, two chocolate fountains and a candy buffet — transported guests into Willy Wonka’s world.

From the moment guests arrived, they were immersed in a replica of Willy Wonka’s world. After handing in their Golden tickets, attendees were greeted by Oompa Loompas and led through doors branded with the signature Willy Wonka “W.” The “sweet” set-up in the banquet room featured tables topped with edible, sugar-filled centerpieces, two chocolate fountains and a candy buffet.

“The fun, light-hearted theme of the event made for an evening enjoyed by everyone who attended,” said Donna J. Clark, executive director of the Northeastern New York Chapter. “Thanks to the generosity of so many devoted friends at this event, we have stronger support for the research that will ultimately lead to a cure for cystic fibrosis.”

Guests Bid Big on the Evening’s Auctions

Two auctions were held throughout the night, which featured popular items like a  barbeque grill, an NBA basketball autographed by the Sacramento Kings and upstate New York native, Jimmer Fredette; VIP tickets to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon; and front row seating for the Rachael Ray Show.

Guests were also given the chance to bid on an all-inclusive trip to Disney World, which sold for $2,000; and a dinner for 10 with one of the area’s top chefs, paired with beer from a local beer distributor, which quickly went for $5,000.

The event was held in honor of CJ DeCrescente, president of DeCrescente Distributing; the Donna Crandall Foundation; and Lindsay Rarick, who has CF.

The Northeastern New York Chapter would like to thank the event chair:
