Great Strides “Walk Weekend” Unites CF Foundation Striders Across the Country
May 18, 2012
This weekend, tens of thousands of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation volunteers across the nation will hit the pavement for CF during Great Strides “Walk Weekend.”
The largest national fundraiser for CF, Great Strides unites families, corporations, CF care centers, the academic community and other dedicated friends with the common goal of curing cystic fibrosis. More than 200 cities will host Great Strides walks May 19-20 to help reach the goal of raising $40 million nationwide in 2012. Throughout the year, more than 550 sites will hold Great Strides walks for more than 250,000 walkers.
“Great Strides supports critical research to advance the development of new CF treatments and the search for a cure for all people with CF,” said Robert J. Beall, Ph.D., president and CEO of the CF Foundation. “Because of the generosity of many friends of the CF Foundation who are walking this weekend, people with CF have real hope for a brighter future and more tomorrows.”
In addition to letter and email-writing campaigns, walkers are raising money to support the mission of the CF Foundation through the Great Strides website, the Facebook app and fundraising events.
