Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Joins CVS/pharmacy in National Fundraising Campaign to Advance Medical Research
May 29, 2012
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been selected by CVS/pharmacy to participate in a new fundraising campaign called Advancing Medical Research. The in-store fundraising effort will support medical research and help improve the quality of life for those living with cystic fibrosis.
Supporters of the campaign can donate $1 or $3 at the register in CVS/Pharmacy locations and online at www.cvs.com/alscff. The campaign runs through June 30 in about 7,000 stores nationwide.
“We are so grateful to CVS/pharmacy for including us in the Advancing Medical Research campaign. Because the CF Foundation receives no federal funding, we depend on the generosity of donors to support critical research to find a cure and improve the lives of those with CF,” said Robert J. Beall, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “Real progress toward a cure has been made, but the lives of young people with CF are still cut far too short.”
Nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of the CF Foundation’s support and its ongoing work with researchers to find a cure. The Advancing Medical Research campaign will help the Foundation accelerate its research and development efforts toward new therapies for people with CF.
“We urgently need the public’s continued support to fulfill our mission and help extend the lives of those with the disease,” said C. Richard Mattingly, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the CF Foundation. “Donors can feel confident in contributing to the CF Foundation, because approximately 90 cents of every dollar of revenue goes to investments in vital CF research, care and education programs.”
In addition to the CF Foundation, funds raised by Advancing Medical Research also will support the ALS Therapy Alliance, a leading organization dedicated to advancing ALS research.
