Great Strides “Walk Weekend” Brings Together Thousands of Supporters in the Search for a Cure
May 17, 2013
Tens of thousands of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation volunteers across the country will hit the pavement this weekend in the search for a cure during Great Strides “Walk Weekend.”
This weekend, thousands from across the country will help support the search for a cure by participating in Great Strides, the CF Foundation’s largest national fundraiser.
Great Strides, the Foundation’s largest national fundraiser, unites families, corporations, CF care centers, student groups and other dedicated friends with the common goal of finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. More than 200 cities throughout the nation will host Great Strides walks May 18-19 to help raise funds for CF research and drug development.
"Every walker who joins Great Strides makes a difference," said Robert J. Beall, Ph.D., president and CEO of the CF Foundation. "Real progress toward a cure has been made, but too many young lives are still cut short by this terrible disease. We are committed to fighting CF from every angle to give all people with CF the future they deserve."
Walkers are raising funds to support the mission of the CF Foundation through letter and email-writing campaigns and through the use of the Great Strides website, the Facebook app and other social media.
