More than 1,400 guests were treated to a food and wine extravaganza featuring 75 premier California wineries, 45 chefs and nearly 900 live and silent auction items at the Los Angeles Office – Southern California Chapter’s 24th annual A Culinary Evening with the California Winemasters. The evening raised $1.4 million to help support the Foundation’s mission to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Guests had the opportunity to sample gourmet food and wine prepared by expert chefs at 26 different tasting stations. Food choices ranged from lobster rolls and lamb tortellini to spinach lasagna and filet mignon.

The fundraiser, held on the Midwest Street Back Lot at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif., also featured some of the most extravagant and alluring auction items in the event’s history. Guests had the opportunity to bid on fantasy vacations and exclusive collector wines. A six-day visit to Burgundy, France for three couples with a tour of the vineyards of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti sold for $50,000, while a once-in-a-lifetime, 14-night, 15-day adventure beginning in Tanzania and concluding on Pemba Island, Zanzibar, sold for $22,000.

“The weather, the wines, the tasting dishes and the auction items couldn’t have been more perfect,” said Allen Balik, event founder and chairman. “Everything really came together to create a magical evening for our guests, chefs and winemakers, who all went above and beyond to help support the search for a cure.”
