After more than six years of dedicated service as co-chair of the Congressional Cystic Fibrosis Caucus, Rep. Edward Markey (D-MA) has stepped down from the post as he assumes new responsibilities in the U.S. Senate. Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA) will replace Markey, joining Rep. Tom Marino (R-PA) as co-chair of the Caucus.

McGovern is a steadfast champion for the cystic fibrosis community and an active supporter of policies that benefit those with CF. The Congressional Cystic Fibrosis Caucus aims to raise greater awareness about CF in the House of Representatives, while finding ways to improve quality of life and life expectancy for those with the disease.

“I give my sincerest thanks to Sen. Markey for his diligent work on behalf of all those affected by CF, and look forward to continuing this successful partnership as he begins his service in the Senate,” said Robert J. Beall, Ph.D., CF Foundation president and CEO. “I am confident in the abilities of Reps. McGovern and Marino to lead efforts that will make a real difference in the lives of people with cystic fibrosis.”

The Congressional CF Caucus has over 120 bipartisan members from 36 states and the District of Columbia, and continues to grow thanks to the dedicated advocacy of Foundation volunteers. It is one of the largest caucuses in Congress.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau.
