Connecticut Summer Soiree Raises $100,000 for CF Foundation

September 9, 2009

Tiffani DiNicola (far left), 13, was diagnosed with CF three years ago.  She and her friends Taylor Brophy, Chloe Gorman and Genny Wilson (left to right) volunteer at the 65 Roses Summer Soiree every year.

The Connecticut Chapter raised more than $100,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation during an elegant summer fundraiser called the 65 Roses Summer Soiree.

Hosted at the home of Melanie and Gary DiNicola, whose 13-year-old daughter Tiffani has CF, the event drew 350 guests. “We’re lucky to live in a generous community where people want to give back to the Foundation to help find a cure for CF,” says Melanie DiNicola. “All of our friends, family and even young teens in town come to support the soiree.”

The DiNicolas jumped into fundraising with the Connecticut chapter after Tiffani was diagnosed with CF three years ago.

Beneath majestic, white tents, guests enjoyed a menu of seafood, pasta and desserts, while a string quartet played classical favorites. The event also featured a diamond and champagne bar, where guests purchased a glass for a chance to win three diamond jewelry pieces.

The silent and live auctions were a highlight of the evening, offering weekend getaways, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots tickets and work by local artists.  The most popular item during the silent auction was grandfather “Poppy” DiNicola’s exclusive eggplant and stuffed peppers dish made from a secret family recipe.

The Connecticut Chapter thanks its corporate sponsors:

  • Alliance Energy
  • New Alliance Bank
  • Old Glory/Red Rocket
  • The Orthopedic Group
  • Solvay Pharmaceuticals
  • UPS
  • The Vest Company
  • Yale University

The 65 Roses Summer Soiree was a great success thanks to these key volunteers:

  • Trisha Braumann
  • Melanie and Gary DiNicola
  • Bob and Dee Jacob
