Talking Progress with Dr. Bonnie Ramsey
Bonnie W. Ramsey, M.D., professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, recognized more than two decades ago that she wanted to devote her career to advancing the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis.
A true champion in the fight against CF, Dr. Ramsey has done just that.
As the Executive Director of the Therapeutics Development Network Coordinating Center, a major hub for CF clinical trials and research, Dr. Ramsey played a leading role in the development of Pulmozyme®, TOBI® and, most recently, Kalydeco™, the first drug to treat the underlying cause of CF in a small portion of those with the disease.
Robert J. Beall, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, caught up with Dr. Ramsey for a brief chat about what’s most exciting in the field of CF today, and what the community can do to help make sure promising new therapies get into the hands of patients who need them.
