Join Team Cassiebug! On May 17th, 2008, people all over the country will take a step toward finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. They will participate in the GREAT STRIDES walk, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event.
May 17th is more than just a fund-raising event - It's also my daughter Cassidy's 4th birthday. Cassidy has Cystic Fibrosis, and every single birthday is precious. This year we'll do more than just celebrate the years past - we'll take a step toward ensuring years in Cassidy's future as well. Won't you join us?
Our family and friends will be walking in the GREAT STRIDES walk at the 2008 Collin County/Plano - Oak Point Park. Please help me meet my fund-raising goal of $1,000.00 by sponsoring me. Your generous gift will be used efficiently and effectively, as nearly 90 cents of every dollar of revenue raised is available for investment in vital CF programs to support research, care and education.
Twenty years ago, CF patients were lucky to reach their 20th birthday. Today the average life expectancy is 37 thanks to new treatments and medications. Virtually all of the advances in CF treatment and care have come through funding from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). As a private foundation, however, they need our help to raise money for all of those breakthroughs. Right now, there are 33 treatments in different stages of development and scientists are still searching for a cure.
Ever since the CF gene was discovered in 1989, many have believed that a cure for CF is just around the corner. Almost 20 years later, we're still waiting. There have been advances, but we need more. Children are still dying from CF today. More research and more funding are needed to end this horrible disease. With your help the CFF can do that. There will be a cure, it's out there! We just have to find it.
