GREAT STRIDES is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event. This year, We are walking in the GREAT STRIDES walk at Hollins University, "Taking Steps to Cure CF", on May 2, 2009. Karlie continues her daily treatments with the courage a 5 year old shouldn't have to have. She amazes me everyday with the comments of "when I get to heaven I won't have to take my medicine and I won't have CF". We just tear up and praise God for the beautiful blessings he has bestowed upon us. It is hard to believe that she was diagnosed almost 3 years ago. Karlie, enjoying a seat on the lap of her big sister, has grown, gained weight and most importantly stayed out of the hospital.

The CF Foundation is coming closer than every with the VX 809 now in clinical trails with real advantages to CF patients. This new drug with help with the process of osmosis and the organization of the chloride distribution between the cells. Now it is clear this medicine will work on Karlies gene mutation of CF, it is a GIANT step in managing the disease.
