GREAT STRIDES is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event. We are walking at Brenton Park in Newport RI on May 16, 2009, at 9 am.We are doing this for my nephew and godson Luke Sweeney. Luke was diagnosed with CF at birth. I didn't know anything about the disease unitl he was diagnosed. I thought it had something to do with muscles? and even that was a stretch. In the winter of 2008 we went to Maine with Luke and realized what routine he had to go through every day and then it hit me that it was real and wasn't going away. Its a genetic disorder that effects the lungs and digestive system (crib note version). Anyways, this has been a real eye opener for my family has made me prioritize many of lifes twists and turns and how important family and friends are.
