As you may know, my daughter Lucy was born with Cystic Fibrosis. At 18 hours old she had surgery to repair her intestinal tract. She recovered and after over 3 weeks in the NICU she was able to come home!! She has daily medications that she has to take in order to keep her healthy. Lucy takes digestive enzymes before she eats every time to help her break down and absorb fats. She is on a high calorie diet for better absorption, along with daily vitamins, laxatives and probiotics. She also does breathing treatments daily. She spends up to 2 hours per day on a nebulizer mask and a shaking vest, to help keep the mucus in her lungs loose and easy to cough up. She often takes oral and inhaled antibiotcs to keep the bad bacteria in her lungs at a minimum. Lucy is now 2 years old and doing well thanks to new medications and treatments but we still need a cure!! She is a tough, vibrant, intelligent little girl who loves reading books, singing and going to the zoo!!
