It is one of the most common chronic lung diseases in children and young adults, and may result in early death

Research has come a long way in treating CF and has extended the life expectancy of people diagnosed with CF to approximately 35 years.

Georgia is one of the few states that include testing for cystic fibrosis in the state newborn metabolic screen. This means that every infant born in Georgia gets tested for this disease. The earlier the diagnosis is made, the better the outcome.
