This year I am raising funds, not only for research to treat and cure this disease, but in memory of my dear friend Jenn who passed away from CF in Feburary of this year. If you are making a donation in her memory (just put it in the comments) I can forward you wishes on to her family.

My name is Talana Fairfax. I'm 26, happily married, and loving life. I am once again walking in Great Strides to raise money for CF.

I was diagnosed with CF in 1982 after struggling with gaining weight for my entire life. This is what I looked like right before I was diagnosed.

After my diagnosis, I had a fairly normal childhood. I played sports, I excelled at school, and I seemed like a normal child. My health was steady and I never needed to go into the hospital. I went on to college on full scholarship, off to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. While in college my health began to slip, and I was first hospitalized for CF at age 20. After graduation college with my teaching degree, I spent a few years substitute teaching. In this time I also met the love of my life, Matt, and we were married on October 13th, 2006.

In March of 2007, Matt and I realized that I probably was no longer healthy enough to work. Through the grace of God, our financial life changed immensely that month and we were able to afford me quitting work. We also moved back to Eugene and bought a house. In November of this year we were blessed again by my being approved for disability after my first attempt at applying.
