Hi! On May 20, 2012, I'll be walking in the Great Strides walk in Akron. I am walking to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), which supports research and product development for cystic fibrosis - CFF is working toward not only better and better treatments for CF patients, but toward a total cure.
Our son Levi was diagnosed with CF at about three weeks of age. Now, at 3 1/2, he is healthy and happy and doing well. We are dedicated to keeping him as healthy as possible until there is a cure for CF, and excited about the research that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation supports.
The outlook has never been quite this positive for individuals with CF. Just weeks ago, the FDA approved a drug that dramatically improves the lung function of patients with the GD551 mutation of CF. This isn't the mutation Levi has, but research on his mutation (DF508) is in progress. We believe a cure truly is just around the corner.
If you're able to walk on May 20 for this cause dear to my heart, please sign up. If not, please consider making a donation to someone who is able to walk.
Thank you!
******************** Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event. Your generous gift will be used efficiently and effectively, as nearly 90 cents of every dollar of revenue raised is available for investment in vital CF programs to support research, care and education.
Making a donation is easy and secure! Just click the "Click to Donate" button on this page to go to make a donation that will be credited to my team. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated!
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a devastating genetic disease that affects tens of thousands of children and young adults in the United States. Research and care supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is making a huge difference in extending the quality of life for those with CF. However, we continue to lose precious lives to CF every day. That's why your help is needed now more than ever to ensure that a cure is found sooner - rather than later.
