- Great Strides 2013 -
YOU DON'T HAVE TO WALK TO RAISE FUNDS AS PART OF OUR TEAM!
Because of the damage from Hurricane Sandy...
The 2013 Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk will be held at CLOVE LAKES PARK on Sunday, June 9th at 9:00 a.m., benefiting the work of the CF Foundation. This event is the most important and successful national fundraising event for our angel Kamryn Rose and the other kids and young adults with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). As always, we are so excited but especially again this year because we are again the Co-Chair Family for the Staten Island Great Strides Walk! Our mission is to generate awareness and also bring in the necessary funds to conduct the research needed to help Kamryn Rose and the many others with this horrible disease.
With the help of our family and friends in 2012, Kamryn’s Angels raised over $52,000!!! The funds were raised from the Great Strides Walk, the Forth Kamryn’s Angels CF Foundation Annual Golf Outing and the CFF Annual BINGO Night. In the past eight years, we’ve brought in over $280,000 for the CURE – thanks to all your help! We are committed to fight this mission for Kamryn Rose and would love for you to be a part of this determination with our family.
So, come join Kamryn’s Angels and help give us that hope for the future. You can walk with us in Staten Island on June 9th (by choosing JOIN MY TEAM), become a sponsor (by choosing CLICK TO DONATE) or help spread the word on our mission (by choosing SEND PAGE TO OTHERS). All donations will be credited to Kamryn’s Angels. In these tough economic times we are facing, charitable donations may not be high on your priority list, but if you donate to just one charity I believe the CF Foundation is a wise choice. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference to the lives of those living with CF. All donations will be used effectively and efficiently for CF as more than $0.90 out of every dollar contributed is used to fund the vital programs of the CF Foundation; and all donations are tax-deductible. The CF Foundation’s aggressive investments in innovative research and comprehensive care have yielded a drug development pipeline that boasts more than 30 potential new therapies (50 years ago there were none) and the establishment of 115 care centers nationwide designed specifically to treat people with CF. In the past eight years – in the span of Kamryn Rose’s life – the CF Foundation and its subsidiaries have invested more than $600 million in medical programs dedicated to advancing life-sustaining treatments and a cure for CF. The CF Foundation is the primary sponsor of critical research that is making tremendous advances toward a cure and control of this disease.
Donations can be made either by credit card at www.cff.org/Great_Strides/CarlFasano or by check and should be made payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CF Foundation) and mailed to: Mr. & Mrs. Carl Fasano 20 Corona Avenue Staten Island, NY 10306
Don’t forget to ask your employer if they have a matching gifts program to match your donations!
CF is an inherited, life-threatening disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. At present, an estimated 30,000 Americans live with CF and 10 million (1 in every 31) are unknowingly symptom-less carriers of the defective CF gene. There are roughly 1,000 new cases of CF diagnosed each year, and approximately 92% of those newly diagnosed are under 18 years old. The median survival age for CF patients is ONLY 37 years – much better than 50 years ago when the median age was not expected beyond elementary school, but still unacceptable to any parent. At only eight years old, Kamryn Rose, when “healthy” and not exhibiting any marked symptoms of her CF, takes at least ten different daily medications either by mouth or by inhalation and sits through at least 45 minutes of chest oscillation and inhalation therapy, swallowing more than 25 pills a day, all just to control the symptoms of her disease; and when ill, Kamryn Rose’s treatment becomes even more cumbersome. With your support, we can all achieve what we need to for Kamryn Rose and all the others with CF: A CHANCE AT A LONGER LIFE.
If you have any questions about donating, joining our team, becoming more involved or anything else having to do with CF, the CF Foundation or Great Strides, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 718-219-0564 or at KamrynsAngels@aol.com. We thank you again for supporting our family and helping to increase the awareness of CF in Staten Island and beyond. It is because of you that our family and families like ours have the strength to triumph.
