Clinical Trials & Studies

The process of drug development begins in the laboratory, with years of experiments that test new approaches to treatment, first in the test tube, then in living systems or models. These stages are known as “preclinical” research. If successful, Food and Drug Administration approval is sought to begin clinical trials which involve patients.

To view more information on a specific cystic fibrosis clinical trial listed below, click on the trial of interest and follow the link to a brief description. The trial descriptions found on these pages appear for informational purposes only—to generate a picture of the broad spectrum of clinical research projects that are underway.

More detailed descriptions are provided of those trials for which individual institutions have sought and obtained Institutional Review Board approval to post advertisements.
