Research Grants
Application Deadline: First Wednesday in September
This grant mechanism is intended to encourage the development of new information that contributes to the understanding of the basic etiology and pathogenesis of CF. In addition, consideration will be given to those projects that provide insight into the development of information that may contribute to the development of new therapies for CF. All proposals must be hypothesis driven, and sufficient preliminary data must be provided to justify CF Foundation support. Information derived from such study will hopefully lead to submission to other funding agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health. Support is available for $90,000 per annum for a period of two years, at which time a grant may be competitively renewed for an additional two years of funding.

Notice to ApplicantsThe following text refers to only Pilot and Feasibility Grants, Research Grants, Research Fellowships, LeRoy Matthews, Harry Shwachman, Clinical Research Grants and Clinical Fellowships.
Research projects involving patients require review by the Clinical Research Committee of the CF Foundation. Exceptions to this include basic science proposals that constitute minimal patient risk (i.e., venipuncture).
A research project that involves a patient/patients and poses greater than minimal risk to a patient/patients must submit a letter-of-intent to the CF Foundation. A review of the letter-of-intent by the Clinical Research Committee will determine whether such projects will be invited to submit a complete application, require further development and are not invited for a full application, or constitute minimal risk to patients' well being and can be adequately reviewed by the Research and Research Training Committees of the CF Foundation.
Interested individuals are encouraged to contact the CF Foundation for further information on application procedures and/or to discuss the potential relevance of their work to the objectives of these programs. Please direct inquiries to:
