How Compass Can Help

Living with cystic fibrosis comes with unique challenges faced by people with the disease, their families, and their care teams. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Compass provides people in the CF community a resource to navigate complex issues, becoming a trusted partner in their care.

Navigating Insurance

With the changing health insurance landscape, understanding or choosing a new insurance plan can be complex and challenging. Compass case managers can help you:

  1. Understand insurance basics, such as how it works and what common insurance terms mean
  2. Consider insurance plans to find one that meets your needs, including comparing private insurance plans or navigating the individual insurance marketplace
  3. Understand Medicaid and Medicare, including whether you are eligible, the pros and cons of different programs, and how to cover costs beyond your medical expenses
  4. Understand your insurance plan, including what is and isn't covered, how your benefits apply to your medical care and prescriptions, which drugs are covered, and what restrictions your plan might have
  5. Troubleshoot insurance issues, such as helping you work with your insurance company to address billing issues and denied claims for treatment
  6. Find health care providers and pharmacies in your area covered by your insurance plan
  7. Receive guidance on appeals if your insurance company denies claims
