April is a dance-maker, performer, teaching artist, writer, and artivist. She is originally from the Timucuan/Seminole territory in the South (known now as Jacksonville, Fla.), and currently lives on Canarsie/Lenape Indigenous lands (known as Brooklyn, N.Y.) with her beautiful wife, Raven, and their dog and two cats. On August 15, she will be 16 years post-double lung transplant.
April is also an adjunct dance professor at SUNY University at Buffalo, directs The Biggs Writing Collective, and is engaged in various anti-racist, anti-ableist, and intersectional committees for equity. Throughout her lifetime, she has been active in CF events as a participant, speaker, facilitator, and organizer, and is proud to be a survivor.
