Research Into Complications

Complications of cystic fibrosis affect everyone with the disease, regardless of their mutation. We are supporting research into CF complications, such as infections, inflammation, excessive mucus, and gastrointestinal issues, to develop better treatments and improve outcomes for people with CF.

Infections

Infections are caused by tiny organisms. All germs have one thing in common: When they find a place that is good for them to live, they set up a home for themselves and multiply.

About Clinical Trials

This is an exciting time in cystic fibrosis clinical research. Not only are there several clinical trials of therapies to treat the underlying cause of CF, but there are also many trials to treat key symptoms of CF and improve quality of life. These include studies of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to treat lung infections and inflammation, as well as treatments to improve nutrition and digestion.
