At age 5, my daughter started to feel the traumatic emotional effects of cystic fibrosis. Fortunately, the care center’s social worker helped her find a healthy path through it.

Caroline is mother to Eden, who has cystic fibrosis. She holds a master’s degree in speech-language pathology and works at a hospital in Tulsa, Okla. but jokes that she “moonlights” as an unpaid respiratory therapist and nurse. Caroline’s family is actively involved with their local CF Foundation chapter, and Eden’s evolving story of hope in the face of adversity has been shared through several media sources. When fighting Eden’s CF wears her down, Caroline is reinvigorated by an afternoon spent pounding balls on the tennis court or a glass of wine shared among friends.
