The “CBS Evening News with Katie Couric” featured a story about Cris Dopher, a 37-year-old with CF, who had a goal to finish the New York City marathon. Dopher, in fact, finished the race:  “It feels really good at those moments just to be able to run free,” he said.

The memory of people he knew who died of CF kept him motivated during the last few miles, Dopher said.

The CBS story highlighted the remarkable progress underway in treating CF and how increasing numbers of people with the disease are now growing into adulthood. The median predicted age of survival has reached an all-time high of 37.4.
