More than 500 volunteers of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will gather in Dallas, Texas for the 14th annual Volunteer Leadership Conference (VLC), teamMATEs for a Cure, from April 7-8, 2017. This invitation-only event (open to everyone via live stream) will bring together teamMATEs from all over the country. Together, the Foundation and volunteers will swap fundraising success stories, hear medical and scientific updates and share best practices.
The conference will be led by 2017 co-chairs, Ginger Birnbaum of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Mike Beatty of Denver, Colo.
In addition to co-chairing the 2017 VLC, Ginger is the co-chair of the Great Strides National Family Team Program and walks for her son, King, a 5-year-old with CF. Ginger has walked in Great Strides for five years and has rallied her friends and family around the fight against this disease. Together with King's sister, Emma Virginia, she and her teamMATEs have created more than 20 Great Strides teams in collaboration with her national team. Ginger is also involved in advocacy efforts at the Foundation, including March on the Hill, and she participates in other fundraising events such as Xtreme Hike.
Mike is a member of the CF Foundation National Board of Trustees. He has been involved with the Foundation for more than 30 years as his adult daughter, Piper, has CF. He has been active in the Colorado Chapter as well and has helped support the Foundation's major giving efforts.
The Foundation is thrilled to work with Ginger and Mike on this important conference to honor and celebrate CF Foundation teamMATEs across the country. Stay tuned and check back to watch VLC live in April 2017.
