As Hurricane Michael approaches the southeastern United States, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is offering two vital resources to support people with CF and their families affected by this hurricane and its surge. The Disaster Emergency and Preparedness Plan provides tips for before, during, and after the storm. And, as always, our free CF Foundation Compass program is ready to lend support to affected community members.

Compass, which helps people with CF navigate insurance, financial, legal, and other issues they face, is on call this week and can help people get emergency access to medications and medical devices that were left behind, lost, or damaged. Compass can also research shelter options and availability for people with special health care needs and help with other storm-related issues that may arise.

Dedicated CF Foundation case managers are ready to work with those affected, one-on-one. Compass is available to anyone with CF, their family, and their care team, regardless of income or insurance status, and is free and confidential.

To contact Compass, call 844-COMPASS (844-266-7277) or email

The Compass team will work to get vital information and answers to common questions by connecting directly with relief organizations on the ground. In addition, the Foundation's clinical care team is in close communication with care centers throughout the region to help ensure continuation of care as those affected are relocated to other areas. While Compass may not be able to solve all challenges, staff is helping address a wide variety of issues people may face.

Our thoughts are with all those who may be impacted by the storm. If you have any questions, please contact Compass today at 844-COMPASS (844-266-7277).
