Training must take place in a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-accredited care center and must encompass diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, comprehensive care, and cystic fibrosis-related research.

Applicants must be eligible for board certification in pediatrics or internal medicine by the time the fellowship begins and are expected to be sub-specialty board eligible at the completion of the fellowship program.

Fellowships for years one and two of fellowship training are primarily intended to support clinical training. Awards are $62,000 (first year) and $69,500 (second year) for stipend (indirect costs are not allowed).

Fellowships are available for additional basic and/or clinical research training in the third, fourth, and fifth years to qualified applicants. These awards are up to $100,000 and include $80,000 for stipend and $20,000 for research costs (indirect costs are not allowed). Applicants for these awards must submit a proposal of the research studies to be undertaken and other specialized training that will be offered during the funding period.

Applicants may apply for up to two years of funding to support third-and-fourth-year clinical fellowship training.

Applicants may be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or non-U.S. citizens. International applicants must have the ability to obtain the appropriate visas, as applicable.
