The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation expects to fund approximately 12 National Resource Centers (NRCs) in 2025.
The Foundation-supported NRC program was established over 20 years ago to provide unique ”cores” of expertise to the CF clinical research community, including:
- Centralized and core-specific services
- Training in specialized testing
- Consulting to investigators and sponsors
- Development of standard operating procedures and training for CF clinical research methodology
- Standardization of assays for multicenter clinical trials
- Advancement of biomarkers and clinical endpoints relevant to CF
NRCs interact regularly with independent investigators, the Foundation, the CF Therapeutics Development Network Coordinating Center (TDNCC) and potentially other data coordinating centers, Therapeutics Development Centers (TDCs), and independent industry sponsors in the planning and implementation of clinical studies and trials. NRCs are expected to be active members of and provide leadership to the CF research community.
Funding of up to $175,000 per year, plus an additional 12% of indirect costs may be requested. Awards may be approved for up to a five-year period.
Applicants should be faculty at academic medical centers with expertise in organization and oversight of the described services applied to multicenter clinical trials. U.S. residents and applicants from outside the U.S. are welcome to apply. However, awardees must be able to provide support and/or serve as a core for U.S.-based research and trials.
